Of Course It Is

Is it possible to fix my marriage? Is it possible to stop feeling stuck, lost, hopeless? Is it possible that fear and worry could ever turn to joy and hope?

Of course it is.

You need to hear it from someone, so go ahead and hear it from me: Nothing is impossible with God. (Luke 1:37) This, of course, was the scene where Gabriel is telling Mary what’s what, so unless your situation is more complicated than the virgin birth, you’re in luck! Now, does that verse mean that God will orchestrate a change in your situation to your exact specifications, timing, and design? No—but He is good and all His ways are good. THAT is your starting point, not the messed-up tangle weighing down your heart right now.

You absolutely cannot control the end result of the specific situation that’s got you asking the “is it possible?” question. You absolutely can control what you do with your next breath. Choose your weapon: thankfulness or praise! Did the maple leaves all turn over in the wind at the same time because a storm is rolling in? His creation is amazing! Did your neighbor’s daughter safely deliver that baby everyone’s been worries about for months? He is faithful! Okay, now your turn—-in the midst of the griefs and cares and weights, find one thing worthy of praise, thankfulness, or celebration, and offer that up to the Lord. One, because He deserves it, and two, because it causes the heavy heart to become light. It causes your ears to remember the voice of truth instead of the fearful lies. It reminds you that all is not lost, not by a long shot.
